DescriptionTwo plates with incised foot ring. Bluish tin glaze decorated in intense blue with a pastoral landscape scene, a complex Chinese border on the rim, and three scrolls on the reverse rim. This example with a man with a staff walking near woods on the front and a 7 on the base.Label TextThis plate and its mate in the CWF collection may be part of a service made for Lionel, duke of Dorset, who was lord lieutenant of Ireland from 1751 to 1755.The name Peter Shee has been associated with the painting on these plates, but that cannot be verified.
