Descriptionbasting, serving, ragout spoonLabel TextLarge spoons of the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, which usually closely follow the design of contemporary spoons for table use, were probably intended for basting and serving purposes. Some late seventeenth- and early eighteenth-century examples are fitted with tubular handles. This example of shield-end type is of good proportions and well made.
