DescriptionTrefid, engraved spoon. Silver-gilt.
Label TextThe engraving on this spoon exhibits an uncommon flow and crispness for engraving of this conventional late seventeenth-century type. The gradual taper of the sides to the end of the handle, the long, narrow oval bowl, and the even spacing of the marks on the lower half of the underside of the handle are characteristics of late trifids.
Markings"LA" in script below a crown and above a pellet in a shaped reserve, mark of John Ladyman (Grimwade 1990 # 1897); date letter
