Arms of Francklin impaling Rich engraved on face of top in center, for Sir Richard Francklin, 2nd baronet of Moore Park, Hertfordshire, and his wife, Lady Ann Rich
Label TextThis salver was made from an earlier piece of silver that was cut down and re-worked. The London hallmarks for 1679–1680 are still discernible at the edge on the back of the top. Opposite these marks, traces of an earlier coat of arms are still visible. By neither melting down the old object nor completely hammering out the earlier marks and engraving, the silversmith saved both time and money.

Engraved in script below the arms: “The Gift of ye Truely Honble: & / Religious Lady, ye Lady Ann Francklin / Anno: Dom: 1694”.
