Blue tin glaze decorated in blue: in the well, an oriental scene with mountains, a pagoda, a willow tree, rocks, two men fishing, and two sailing vessels; on the rim, extensions of this scene and leaf swags on either side of slot. On the exterior, four stylized oriental scroll motifs, a small vine like decoration on the handles, and the number 24 within the foot ring.
Label TextPlates of this form, filled with hot water and used to keep food warm, are rare in delft and most commonly found in pewter. Most ceramic examples are made of more durable Chinese export porcelain, but at least one English salt-glazed stoneware example survives.
