DescriptionMan's folding purse or pocketbook of brown leather. Pocketbook has a leather strap that is stitched to the flap, designed to slip through a keeper sewn to one outer side. Under the flap are words in gold, "HENRY HUGHES WEST GRINSTED/ SUSSEX 1779." Interior has 4 compartments with another strap and keeper on one side. Lined with red and white marbelized paper linings. Paper label glued inside reads "William Bibby, Maker, at the Black Cap, In Fenwick-street, LIVERPOOL."InscribedPaper label: "William Bibby, Maker, at the Black cap, In Fenwick-street, LIVERPOOL."
In gold lettering: "HENRY HUGHES WEST GRINSTED/ SUSSEX 1779"
