DescriptionCream satin petticoat, quilted with running stitches through woolen batting and cream worsted tabby backing. Design consists of swags, stylized flowers and leaves, and serrated lines. 11" deep pocket slits on each side.Construction History:
1. 1770-1785: Initial Construction
2. At some point prior to the museum aquiring it, crepeline was stiched at the waist and hem for support.

This petticoat was hand quilted by a professional using silk running stitches. The lower half of the design features multiple swags of various widths, filled with dense flowers, leaves, and zig-zags. Quilted petticoats were fashionable daytime garments, especially for cold weather and unheated rooms.
