DescriptionInfant's gown of cream-white silk satin. Squared neckline with two tab extensions at front. Open down length of front. Bodice front is pleated with three tucks on either side, fanning out in one piece to the full skirt. Bodice back is pleated toward the center, with the pleats fanning out into the skirt at the waistline. Cuffed sleeves are set into bodice. Fully lined with cream tabby silk. Sleeves & bodice are bound with silk tape; tapes are butted and stitched together edge-to-edge where sleeves join bodice.Label TextThis gown probably was used as a Christening gown. The garment is unusual for its plainness; it may have had a lace overdress or other trimmings at one time.
