DescriptionInfant child's cap of fine white plain-woven linen; the cap has a three-inch deep double brim framing the face; the crown is gathered to the brim and at the back of the neck. The cap is trimmed with a 1 1/2" wide band of hollie point needle lace running from front to back over the top of the head. The hollie point band has vases of flowers, pairs of birds and the inscription, "Susanna Porter March 16, 1748." Additional needlepoint lace edges the seamed areas.Markings"Susanna Porter March 26 1748" in Hollie Point
