DescriptionOblong dish with canted corners and not foot ring. Bluish tin glaze with powdered turquoise-blue ground. In the large central reserve and smaller reserved on the rim, sprays of flowers in green, yellow, and manganese.Label TextThe unsuccessful colored glaze on this delft dish, which bubbled and ran in the firing, suggests that this was an experimental piece. Such a surmise is reinforced by the fact that the only other recorded piece with the same or similar color, a water bottle (CWF accession 1988-230), is also of experimental quality. The water bottle is decorated in blue within the reserves and has slightly more blue in the turquoise ground.
