DescriptionTaper box: cylindrical box with slightly-curved top to cover with hole in center for taper; pivoting shaped strap curled at end and fastened by pin to top of cover; lathe-turned moldings on top near rim and on side of cover attached to body with shaped flat hinge applied moldings below rim and at base; cast; engraved crest of a turkey on a wreath bar (unidentified); Weight: 8 oz., 5 dwt., 6 gr.Label TextThis is a particularly large and early version of the form.

MarkingsMaker's mark "S:W" in script letters within a conforming reserve, leopard's head crowned, lion passant, and date letter both on underside of cover and on undersie of base; primary part of the former maker's mark removed in cutting hole.
