DescriptionEnamel snuff box decorated on the four sides and the top with a yellow and blue gingham ground; the cover interupted by a cartouche of white c-scrolls and dots enclosing a landscape depicting a figure of a man with a cow and three sheep on a hillside in the foreground; at the top of the hill is a tree flanked by a section of fencing and another figure; in the distance is a small building beside a pond; and on the horizon is are buildings or ruins. Floral sprigs and dots painted over the gingham ground on the sides. The underside of the box and the interior all undecorated white enamel. Copper mounts decorated with incised double-scallop pattern around edge of cover and top of box, encompassing three-segmented piano hinge on long side.ca. 1880
