DescriptionLarge and smaller pair of matching design; bell shaped finial on stepped circular disc on top of cover; straight sided cylindrical cover with chased spiral grooves and four vertical bands of leaves at even intervals; covers of large single and one of pair pierced in spiral rows between grooves with small plain circular perforations; cover of caster for mustard unperforated but chased with circular depressions to simulate appearance of others; applied profiled molding separating main part of cover and bezel fitting within rim of body; doubled bellied elongated pear or baluster shaped body with molding at rim and at contraflexure of neck and lower section; body supported on splayed circular base with molded face. Uninscribed as to owner.Label TextThe small caster with an unpierced cover, although stamped and chased to correspond with pierced casters of this set, was probably intended for mustard. It was acquired separately by the donors to complete the set. A plated caster of this same pattern and with the same maker's mark is in the Croft Lyons bequest, Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
