Vüe du Northfleet, dans le Compté de Kent./ Publish'd according to Act of Parliament & Sold by Jn.o Boydell Engraver attheUnicorn the Corner of Queen Street Cheapside London 1752/ N.o 20"Label TextNorthfleet is an area in Kent, England close to Gravesend and located on the Thames. It was a center of ship-building from the late-eighteenth century to the mid-nineteenth.
One of Boydell's large ventures was A COLLECTION OF ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SELECT VIEWS IN ENGLAND, WALES, SCOTLAND, AND IRELAND, These views were drawn by Paul Sandby, and engraved by many different people. With the knowledge that these ran to so many, and were published in two volumes, it is exceedingly likely that this plate may have come from this.
