DescriptionThis rectangular sampler features 18 patterns of bobbin-made mesh fillet, mounted on a carnation pink ribbon with floss silk thread between each pattern.Label TextThis long, narrow sampler, which bears no inscriptions or marks that can indicate who made the sampler or where or when she completed it, is likely from 18th or 19th-century Italy. It was made by creating what looks like mesh through bobbin lace. The sampler shows 18 different bobbin lace fillet designs, separated by silk thread, resulting in a miniscule gallery of this bobbin lace maker's braiding and twisting skills.
