Label TextA school piece printed with vignettes celebrating the signing of the Treaty of Paris (1763) and celebrating the accomplishments of King George III. School pieces or writing pieces were used by students learning to write to demonstrate their progress. The student who completed this piece was John Des Champs, who wrote his "Piece" at "Whitsundide" - Whitsun or Whitsuntide which was a religious holiday that falls after the seventh Sunday after Easter.
