DescriptionBodkinLabel TextBodkins were used in lacing garments and in other situations involving the threading of cord, tape, and ribbon. This example is of representative seventeenth-century size and form with conventional decorative engraving. The small ear spoon at the upper end may have served to gather earwax for treating thread before it was tightly spun.
