DescriptionDish with incised foot ring. Bluish tin glaze decorated in the well with a basket and a large hanging bunch of grapes; on the rim, a scalloped pattern of stylized leaves. Basket in blue, grapes in manganese, leaves in green; blue simulated shell edge.Label TextThe blue lines at the edge of this dish give somewhat the effect of shell edge, a type of decoration found on the pearlware and creamware popular in England during the 1790s. The same decoration is found on a London-made balloon plate in the CWF collection (accession 1966-940), which together with the dark blue color of the decoration forms the basis for the London attribution.
