DescriptionFused silver-plate basket with gilding: Body of oval plan with openwork boarder at rim of moderate width with running pattern of slender tripartite leaf forms forming an arcade enclosing acanthus leaves; face of border enhanced with engraving and gilding (the remainder of piece ungilded); reeded mouldings applied above and below border; openwork sides composed of repeat of plain narrow wire loops everted at top and curving inward at base and soldered to face of foot ring; short oval foot ring enclosed at top with plain oval disc with concave face forming base.ProvenanceDr. Lowry Dale Kirby, Nashville, TN
