DescriptionThis is a printed chintz appliqued onto a triangular shaped, white cotton ground. The chintz is printed in the colors of green, pink/red, gold, blue and brown in a design of a tight bouquet of red flowers with green and gold leaves. The edges have been turned under and stitched in place. It is one of a group of twenty-seven printed chintz appliqued documents on white cotton grounds, 24 of which are triangles of floral sprigs and birds, one is a square piece with vase of flowers, and one is an irregular shaped fragment on a discolored ground.
Label TextThis appliqued chintz textile is one of twenty-seven that were never used. They were probably created with the intent to be made up into an appliqued quilt or quilt top.
ProvenanceEx-collection of Grace Hartshorn Westerfield (Mrs. Jason Westerfield) of Camden, Maine. No further provenance is known.
