Label TextAn envelope asserts that this was the “Stock of George 2nd,” king of England from 1727 to 1760. Although the envelope dates to the nineteenth century and is not conclusive as documentation, the account may be true. The history is made more believable by virtue of the tiny cross-stitched crown and the number 46 stitched on the back of the tapered tab. The number suggests that the owner had at least 45 other stocks. The incredibly fine stitching and materials also help to support the history.
