DescriptionAPPEARANCE: Oval breakfast table with two drop leaves; tapered legs are embellished with rectangular stringcourse work at the top of each leg and a four petal flower, pendentive bell flowers, and a leaf intersperced with inlaid dots down each leg surrounded by an arched stringcourse work ending in lightwood cuffs and ebonized feet; the table has one functioning bow front drawer and one false bow front each with original oval brass pulls.CONSTRUCTION: Structural tulip poplar side, front, and back rails are tenoned into the legs; mahogany fixed side rails are tenoned into the legs. The mahogany swing rail is joined to the fixed rail with a round knuckle joint. The swing rail is relieved on the back to create a handhold; Rectangular yellow pine glue blocks are glued into the rear corners of the table; Top scewed to rails from screwpockets on inside of rails; Tulip poplar drawer supports and drawer guides are nailed to the inside of the side rails; Rectangular yellow pine drawer stops are glued to the inside of the side rails; Diagonal tulip poplar medial brace dovetailed to the top of the side rails; Yellow pine drawer sides dovetailed to the front and back. Drawer bottom is chamfered around the edges and slid into dados in the drawer sides and front and are nailed to the bottom of the back. Rectangular yellow pine blocks are glued to the bottom around the sides and front. Red wash on inside of drawer front. Drawer front comprised of two horizontal laminated boards, veneered on front.
Inscribed"X"inscribed on the center of the inside rear rail and off center on the underside of proper left leaf.
