Label TextThis is plate is from "The Universal Magazine of Knowledge and Pleasure" published by John Hinton depicting the the interior of a hat making shop.Three men work at a table rolling and blocking the hat. The steam can be seen coming from a small oven under the table. On the wall many varieties of hats are hung. On the floor on the lower right are molds for the hats. Toward the rear another room can be seen in which a man works bowing hair for preparing the hat for felting.
