DescriptionCopper pig made in two sections with seam around it, and small copper ears welded onto the body. There is a hole on top of pig by shoulders for another pole from which to spspend pit. Four legs, slender snout, and tiny raised eye. The body is fat and areas delineated by slight indents in metal. Curly tail, stands on a round horizontal bar.Label TextBased on the numbers of surviving examples, pigs were less popular than other animal forms as weather vane subjects. No other identical vane has been located to date. Its similarity to the pig vane made by L. W. Cushing & Sons may indicate that the Cushing vane served as a pattern for this unidentified maker. The simplicity of the form and lack of detail suggest a relatively late date.
