Over the course of the eighteenth century, the Temple family hired some of the most important landscape designers and architects of the eighteenth-century to design the gardens. Over the course of the century, it became one of the most influential and important gardens in England. The landscape featured various architectural features such as follies, monuments, water features, and temples, as well as carefully curated vistas and promenades.
