Label TextBy the mid-eighteenth century, it was becoming increasingly common for well-to-do families and their guests to assemble for tea in the late afternoon or early evening. These tea parties were popular occasions for social interaction between men and women, and they offered a rare opportunity for women to preside in a convivial setting. Tea tables served as the primary presentation space for all the equipment needed to prepare tea. Having a miniature tea table of their own taught young girls how to become the perfect hostess by organizing tea parties for their dolls.
