DescriptionSideboard table: appearance; rectangular top with bead and ogee molding on all four sides; straight, shallow skirt; single, full width drawer; four cabriole legs with sharp knees terminate in pad feet supported by high discs; each leg flanked by knee brackets. Construction; all elements walnut except as noted; two board, edge glued top screwed to frame through diagonal screw wells in rear rail and side rails; rear and side rails and drawer blades tenoned and pinned to legs; top drawer blade mortised for lock on drawer; yellow pine inner side rails glued to inside of side rails, bracing front and rear legs; yellow pine upper drawer guides nailed to legs on eith er side just underneath top; bottom drawer supports originally glued and possibly nailed to inner side rails and legs, running full depth of table; strip of wood running full width of table originally nailed to inside of rear rail and top served as drawer stop, now missing; original knee blocks glued and possibly nailed to each leg and bottoms of rails and lower drawer blade.MarkingsMasking tape on inside front left leg, pencil inscription worn off; "B" penciled on rear knee bracket on left rear leg.
ProvenanceAccording to source, table was a wedding present to her sister, Mrs. Ethel B. (Harper) Revere, and was owned by the family for 50 years. Source thought table came from Tidewater area, and was used in York and Elizabeth City Counties.
