DescriptionA smith is seen holding iron under a heavy hammer worked by mechanical power. Another blacksmith is standing beside him with arms folded. Towards the right is a woman with a little girl in her arms, with an older girl and sheep dog standing beside her. To the left is an old man with a child at his knees. At the middle of the bottom of the print reads An IRON FORGE. In the bottom right corner J Boydell Ex[unable to read] Published Jan. [ill.] 1773. Above this text on 2 different pieces of what appears to be iron is written Jo Wright Pinxt 1770 and R Earlom fc.ProvenanceNot known.
