DescriptionCream pot; pear-shaped body with everted rim and triangular spout for pouring; double-scroll handle with scroll grip and terminal attached at rim and to lower section of body; body supported on three evenly-spaced double-scroll legs ending in pad feet.
Label TextThe earliest pewter cream jugs are of this baluster or pear form (left). Like their silver prototypes, most English examples supported on short cabriole legs date after 1725 with American ones making their appearance after mid-century.
