DescriptionCup, horn. Customary form determined by shape and size of horn. Engraving on side: sheep shearing scene. Two sheep stand awaiting the ordeal. A young man carries a sheep to an older man who is seated and waiting with shears in hand. A woman next to him sits while in process of shearing a sheep lying across her lap, and a little girl feeds the sheep some grass. Another woman sits to the left also shearing a sheep across her lap. Above the action are two trees with birds pirched in them; and an arched wooded bridge from which a man is fishing, with a house or mill standing on the further shore of the stream. The horn is very translucent, almost transparent in places. Stain apparently used to accent objects pictured in engraving.ProvenanceUnknown.
