DescriptionJapanned looking glass. Upright moulded frame, cresting with cut out scrolls enclosing serpentine raised center section, ogee moulding enclosing glass, serpentine at upper edge. Glass divided into two sections the lower being twice as large as the upper section. Upper glass beveled on lower edge only. Lower glass beveled on all four sides. The top panel of the frame is decorated with a chinese scene of two figures and a wild boar. The moulding on the sides is decorated with leaf and flower design with checkered design between. A crane appears on the moulding on both the lower left and right sides with a turtle centered in the lower moulding. The frame is also decorated with some bronze gilt lines with touches of red on black Japanning.InscribedPenciled on back of cresting "From home of first town clerk of Rutland Vt. bot. Recd.
