DescriptionLady in turquoise dress and black apron bordered with yellow flowers, with puce cloak over her head and hurdy-gurdy at waist; on plinth encrusted with flowers.

Label TextThis figure of a woman lifting her veil has a hurdy-gurdy at her waist. It has been suggested that the modeler found his inspiration in a painting by Murillo (ca. 1660) showing the head, shoulders, and arm of a girl raising her veil. A second example of the Chelsea model was formerly in the Salting Collection, while a third is recorded without information about its history.
