The regnal date UNDECIMO is pressed into the edge in relief.Label TextStruck from gold provided by the Africa Company, the British Five Guineas coin was the largest and most valuable denomination produced in that precious metal. As such, it carried considerable purchasing power and wasn't intended for use in the everyday marketplace.
