DescriptionShallow red earthenware dish in the shape of a naturalistically formed leaf with raised veins and open scrolled stem.Label TextShallow red earthenware dish in the shape of a naturalistically formed leaf with raised veins and open scrolled stem. Three different sizes of pickle leaves appear in the 1807 inventory of the Salem pottery with values listed as four, six, and eight pence. Molds for two of these are in the collection of Old Salem Museums and Gardens. This example corresponds to the largest size. These dishes are almost exact copies of eighteenth-century English creamware examples.
