DescriptionThis is an example of a printed fraktur that has been hand colored by an artist. The piece has two central text boxes, one on top of the other, for documenting the event and for including a Bible verse. To either side of these boxes are angels playing trumpets and birds sitting on sprigs. All four figures are hand colored in red, yellow and green. The top of the piece includes a hand colored eagle flanked by two boxes containing more Biblical text. The blank spaces in the central text box have been filled in with red ink and the artist has added his signature below with the same pen. At the very bottom of the page the artist has also signed his name in Yiddish alongside a Star of David, also in red ink.1650-1675
