DescriptionThrown stoneware vase with broad, rounded shoulders tapering to a slightly narrower base. The central neck of the vessels ends in a slightly everted rim. Four 1 1/2" diameter spouts have been added at equal points around the shoulder of the vase. A line was incised around the pot to help place these additions at the same height on the pot and then the holes were cut and the spots were added--at times off-center from the hole so that the overall look is of symmetry even though the holes were cut slightly asymmetrically. The body of the pot coated in a type of alkaline glaze where lime is mixed with clay.ProvenancePurchased from: Robert R. Hunter Jr. with funds from C. Thomas Hamlin III Fund.
