Label TextThis book, written by John Smith, is one of the earliest accounts of English settlement in North America, and it became the main source of English knowledge about America during that period of early colonization. Compiled from Smith's firsthand experience as well as reports from various contacts, this Generall Historie contains accounts of the establishment of Jamestowne, the arrival of the Mayflower settlers, the surveying of the coasts of Virginia and New England, and the interactions between the English settlers and local indigenous peoples.
