Label TextThis print is based on a drawing of the Hampton Court bridge by the artist Antoinio Canaletto (now in the collection of the British Museum). The wooden bridge, which opened on December 13, 1753, was designed in the "chinese" style by Samuel Stevens and Benjamin Ludgator. The bridge, which connected Moseley and Hampton Court, was later replaced by an iron bridge in 1865.
