DescriptionFlat rectangular table with double, folding top with canted corners; top swivels at center to one side, revealing rectangular well beneath one side of top, covered with original green baize; after swiveling top, leaf is folded down on pair of hinges to cover well; straight, veneered skirt on front and sides with canted corners matching top; upward extensions of four legs form rectangular projecting from surface of skirt; four legs, one at each corner turned with rings and flattened ball at top, reeded and tapering to ankle where they terminate in ring turnings and plain, swelled section ending in carved, dog-paw feet (feet are made in two pieces, the front half being glued to rest)
ProvenanceThe history of this table is unknown. It may possibly be the "1 slender card table" mentioned in "Schedule A", part of the bill of sale of furnishings from Peter Elmendorf Sanders to his sister-in-law Jan Ten Broeck sanders in 1874. It was in the Scotia house before its purchase by CW as evidenced by the comments of Mrs. Pearl S Sanders who stated: "this table with the dog feet was in our parlor against the wall as you went into the dining room"
