Label TextSome of the most fashionable patterns of spoons in the first half of the nineteenth century utilize handles of this hourglass outline. The most common of these is the King's pattern, with its elegant scrolled framing accented by shells and anthemia. The length of the spoon, at nine inches, is also indicative of its nineteenth-century date.
