DescriptionWoman's slip-on shoe, one of a pair, constructed of blue silk damask with contrasting white silk satin covering the heel and white binding. Shoe has a pointed tongue, without straps for buckles. The toes of the shoes are pointed and turn up slightly at the tip. The heels are low (1 1/4" high) but broad (2 3/4" wide). The edges are bound with 1/4" (folded width) cream silk ribbon, which is also sewn down the sides of the shoe to the sole. The edges of the shoe opening could be adjusted by means of linen cording passed through a channel created by the silk ribbon edging. The cording could be tightened and tied, with the knot hidden under the tongue. The brown leather sole is visibly fastened to the shoe with 5 tacks.
