Label TextThis spoon and its privately owned mate are the only known spoons with a relief-cast portrait of George I in the classical style with a wreath of laurel leaves in his hair, as in his depictions on English coins. The interior of the bowl has been strongly scraped or grated.
Inscribed"GR" for George Rex cast in relief below portrait on face of handle. Owners' initials "RE" and "ER" cast in relief on underside of handle.
