DescriptionSide chair with stiles angled at the seat rail, turned above seat level with blocks, balusters, columns, and bulbous finials; front legs and front stretcher blocked and turned; rear and side stretchers rectangular in cross section; front stretcher set level with upper side stretchers; rear stretcher set level with lower side stretchers; flat crest rail with beveled upper edge; trapezoidal seat; mortise and tenon construction throughout, all joints pinned except those for upper side stretchers and splat stiles; seat and back originally upholstered in leather secured with double rows of brass nails.Materials: maple front legs, stiles, and front stretcher; oak crest rail, stasy rail, splat stiles, seat rails, and side and rear stretchers.
