DescriptionTea urn and cover enameled with a diaper pattern of red roses on a pale green ground around landscape pictures in gilt frames on front and back; raised on a chased and pierced ormolu pedestal; fitted with two ormolu loop handles and an ormolu spout with ivory handle.
Label TextThis tea urn represents the pinnacle of English eighteenth-century enamel work. Its lavish gilt ormolu mounts, rich patterning, and landscape scenes suggest that it was conceived as an objet de vertu as well as a useful piece of tea equipage
