DescriptionAll pieces molded with basket pattern and florets. The cover and stand pierced. Fully molded flowers attached at each handle. Blue scale ground on rims of stand and cover, on the well of the stand, and on the inside of the basket. Garden flowers in the reserves. The applied flowers in natural colors. Fine gilding frames the reserves
Label TextAlthough containers with stands and pierced covers are popularly known as chestnut baskets, sale records from the Worcester Porcelain Manufactory suggest that some similar forms were originally called "cream-basons." Pairs of such vessels were included in elaborate dessert services. The rich colors on this example are a hallmark of Worcester.
