DescriptionSpoon tray of loosely hexagonal form with softly fluted sides rising vertically. Flat bottom with glaze mostly wiped off. Blue-ish glaze over warm gray body with black specks. The body with slight kiln warpage. "Powder Blue" (or intense blue of medium darkness) ground with two principal reserves of fan shape arranged oppositional to each other, with two circular reserves flanking. The reserves each banded in a thin line of gilt, with numerous gilt foliage sprays extending from the reserves and up the walls. With a gilt floral spray to the center. The large, fan-shaped reserves with floral sprays. The one with mauve rose central and yellow-rust poppies. The other with purple-rust peony with iris, roses, and lily flanking. The two circular reserves with vines and flower, one rust and the other mauve. The flowers in the style formerly strongly associated with James Giles, but likely decorated at the Worcester factory.
