DescriptionEnamelware ewer, the body painted in opaque enamels on either side with two leaf-shaped panels reserved on a pale yellow ground patterned with a profusion of flowers and foliage, three panels depicting two or three Chinese figures at various pursuits in a garden, and the fourth depicting two men in a sampan on a river near other figures and a pagoda on the hilly bank, the handle formed as a blue-scroll-patterned dragon, the short spout and yellow ground, and the center of the cover dome (enamels restored) with a rose peony and blue chrysanthemum blossom edged in blue ruyi heads, the knop and stylized bird-form hinge joining the cover and handle in metal, and the white underside with a fruit and blossom sprig, (some cracks and crackling).
