DescriptionOval copper plaque with white enameled surface, lettered in black "BY ROYAL PATENT / LONGMAN & BRODERIP / MUSICAL INSTRUMENT MAKERS / No. 26 CHEAPSIDE & No. 13 HAYMARKET / LONDON". Surrounding brass-like beaded copper alloy bezel is now separate and missing a segment.

ProvenanceThe plaque was removed from a circa 1788 square piano made by an unknown maker but sold through Longman & Broderip (as their serial number 2361). Longman & Broderip were publishers of music and retailers of musical instruments and other music-related products. Prior to Mr. Winter's ownership of this plaque, it belonged to the estate of musical instrument restorer Bjarne Dahl.
