The structural support is a copper alloy to which is fused a white or green enamel ground, the painted designs rendered in natural colors. The globular body and S-shaped spout have a white ground. The body is decorated with a leaf and floral band around the opening at the top. There are two Chinese garden scenes on the sides, one showing a boy flying a dragon kite and a man and lady seated and playing flutes. The lady is seated on a garden stool. The other scene shows a man and lady playing a game while a maid is bringing them tea. These gardens have traditional rocks, fence, bamboo, etc. A floral border surrounds the lower part of the body and consists of various rosette flowers, both simple and composite. At base of spout is a stylized orchid.
