DescriptionGaming Purse with flat circular base, used to hold coins or tokens at gaming table during 17th century. Dark green velvet heavily embroidered with gold bullion thread in lines of conventionalized floral pattern around purse sides. Similar patterning elements at bottom of purse, patterns radiating from central conventionalised flower within circular border. Binding of 1/8" gold bullion tape, gold tape drawstring through punched holes at top of purse. White leather kid lining at interior. Construction History:
1. Originally Constructed 1680-1700
2. Unknown Date: Gilt lace likely added to object after its' initial construction
3. Unknown Date: Drawstring likely not original to the object
4. 1954 (Ernest LoNano): Removal of gilt lace from mouth of purse.
5. 1954 (Ernest LoNano): Likely replaced interior with new white leather interior, stitched to bottom and sides of purse.
